Who is The Producer BDB? I’m an artist born in eastside Riverside, California. I grew up drawing, doing graffiti and moved a lot. Adapted to change and worked in finance right out of high school instead of going to the art center in Pasadena. I made good money in finance, but wasn’t sold on it being my life goal. I got laid off at AIG and moved to brazil, which changed my out look on life. I became an artist after a back packing trip of Europe. I started with street art doing artist that inspired me in today’s fashion and kicks. Then I was noticed by magazines and galleries, which lead to me showing my art art all over the world.
What role does the artist have in society? I feel like my role as an artist is to document what its like to be alive in our era. In the future they will look back to our time and look at the arts to visualize what it was like to be alive in our time. Today’s fashion and culture is represented in my work. I hope to show the people who inspired us and what was popular at the time.
What do you love about art most? It gives me a voice to interact with everyone from rich, poor, races, sexes, creeds… its limitless. It can inspire others and there are no rules in art.
What’s your scariest experience as an artist? Fear is something that we all experience, taking the leap to do art full-time took a lot of courage. Leaving the comfort zone of a normal job to pursue something that you are just imagining in your head, is pretty crazy, but life begins out of your comfort zone. Who knows what tomorrow brings … security is also an illusion.
What or who inspired you to be an artist? I have been inspired by many including; Picasso, Haring, Basquiat and all the greats. I’m constantly inspired by people who did it like Steve Jobs and Walt Disney. My work is built around inspiration so everyone I’ve painted pretty much inspired me, lol!
What’s your most embarrassing moment? Too many to remember. You look crazy at first then end up looking like a genius.
What do you dislike about the art world? It can be pretenious.
What superpower would you have and why? To be able to move throughout space and time effortlessly, that would be dope, time travel.
What is your dream project? The producer BDB retrospective show on Mars, haha. Its gonna take a lot of work to have it on Mars, but we have time.
Name three artists you’d like to be compared to? Picasso, Walk Disney and Pharrell Williams. They all inspired me in many different ways.
What’s next for The Producer BDB? Looking forward to upcoming shows in Hong Kong and Singapore in the fall and a Malibu show in August while creating more content and excited to create. Stay tuned.
